Interior of boudoir Nib and brown ink, brown wash. Bears the stamp of the Ch. Cousin collection (Lugt no. 512) in the lower left corner. 32 x 23.5 cm Provenance: Chez L. Chauvet, Paris. Son of an engraver, son-in-law and pupil of François Boucher, Baudoin began as a miniature painter and illustrator. Between 1763 and 1769, he exhibited at the Salon some libertine gouaches which made him famous and made him a much sought-after draughtsman at the end of the Ancien Régime. Most of his works were engraved. He is considered one of Fragonard's masters.
