36 L.A. (7 signed "Louise" or initials) to her, by Louise von Starhemberg, Countess von THÜRHEIM (1793-1859), 1835-1844 and n.d.; 120 pages in various formats, most with address (some fringed edges). Friendly correspondence with Mrs. Hanska, where Balzac is often mentioned. Mrs. Hanska and the Countess of Thürheim had made friends in Vienna; in 1842, Balzac dedicated a double family to her. Louise de Thürheim talks to her friend about her travels: in addition to Vienna, the letters are written in Venice, Dolo, Carinthia, Albano, Rome, Saint-Vaast, etc. She talks about their friends (Cantacuzène, Esterhazy, Harrach, Pahlen, Ricci, Spiegel, etc.), their health, etc. Balzac is often mentioned: his trial with the Revue des deux mondes, his stay in Venice where he met the Countess' sister, his works... "Tell me if Mr. de Balzac is dead, or if Seraphîta has won; the fact remains that I haven't heard from either of them in 4 months" (16 November 1835)...
