An unusual infantry saber, with a 1800-style single-branch g - Lot 228
An unusual infantry saber, with a 1800-style single-branch guard, melon-ribbed pommel, straight crossguard, two oval lugs adorned in the center with two large chiseled fleurs-de-lis in the 18th-century style, pierced with two holes to allow for the addition of a motif on top—likely an eagle or a profile of Napoleon during the Hundred Days; short Montmorency-style blade, engraved, blued, and gilded one-third of the way up with foliage and a trophy of arms; leather scabbard, two brass fittings, palmette-shaped pommel (rewelded); length 83 cm. Consulate period, modified during the Restoration. Fairly good condition.
