Christ on the Cross in bronze with brown patina. The body of - Lot 173
Christ on the Cross in bronze with brown patina. The body of Christ is treated with great anatomical precision, the thoracic musculature and ribs chiseled in a prominent manner. The face is upturned, the eyes open, the mouth between open, the hair and beard finely worked, giving an expression both painful and serene. The drapery of the perizonium is tied on the right, with deep, lively folds. The perizonium is hidden on the back. It rests on a tortoiseshell cross. 17th century H : 63 - W : 53 cm
