Saint Mary Magdalene in high-relief marble. - Lot 135
Saint Mary Magdalene in high-relief marble. The saint is shown standing. She is clothed in a long veil forming a mantle that returns to the front as an apron with a delicate, supple, cornet-like pleating, and a belted gown. Her round, full-cheeked face, aquiline nose and fleshy mouth are framed by long, wavy locks of hair resting on her shoulders. In her left hand, she carries the vase of perfumes with which she anoints Jesus' feet at Simon's; in her right, a book... Northern Italy, 14th century (worn and embossed).
