It has been "varnished for 8 days"; any dust from transport should be removed with a feather duster "as the varnish is sensitive". The painting is "Departure for fox hunting. - The horse in the foreground is Irish [...], ridden by a young English spiker. - The hounds are beagles. Their ears are half cropped, according to English custom [...]. -At far right, a groom. [The country is Nantes. I am happy to see you the owner of a sign of my friendship & my gratitude"...
