Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898). - Lot 32
Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898).
L.A.S., [Deauville] September 30, 1897, to his brother Louis; 3 pages in-8°.
They had been in Honfleur for a few days, but he had to return to Deauville "to send you your month and that of our sister", and is going back to Honfleur where he left his luggage, "believing to be favored with a few days of fine weather. "I was pinched by some pantyhose among others by Soudan [Jehan Soudan de Pierrefitte]. To get rid of them I had to give him your address and he will write to you [...] to ask you for some souvenirs of Honfleur if you have put any on paper. He intends to prepare a volume for a conference to be held next summer in Honfleur.
Honfleur next summer. [...] For me, these machines are of no interest whatsoever, even though they show me what I don't care about at all. [...] We'd be doing quite well, but I'm extremely tired and this work, in these variable times, is becoming too tiring for me, as I'm riddled with pain. I'm doing some studies in Honfleur, the market, the harbor, but navigation is impoverished like everywhere else". He instructs Louis to carry his 100-franc bill to their sister Désirée, and embraces them all... He will send her M. Bréard's collection "sur les vieux marins Honfleurais"...
