Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898). - Lot 29
Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898).
L.A.S., [Paris] May 20, 1867, to his brother Louis; 4 pages in-8°.
He is so busy that he can't see the time go by; he wanted to send a money order but complains that he has the worst possible clients, who owe him large sums of money, which they absolutely cannot touch.
They're having all the trouble in the world getting paid, despite the Exhibition... "As far as art is concerned, I can only repeat that I was honored with a ballotage for the medal, which eludes me again this year. I regret this from the point of view of vogue, which is so difficult to conquer no matter what you do. In spite of all the attractions Paris has to offer at the moment, we're slowly preparing to leave it. It's very hot and "Paris is crowded with people - business is picking up, they say - for us, we haven't made any profit other than the increase in the odds [...] We're doing as well as we can for the moment, me and Marianne, and we're starting to look westwards"...
