Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898). - Lot 27
Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898). L.A.S., Paris May 6, 1866, to his brother Louis; 3 pages and a quarter in-8°. Recent times have brought him relative prosperity: "We have seen the opening of some dealers' doors which had remained closed to us until now; the support of some of our colleagues who have praised my essays have not contributed little to this. Last but not least, the Salon, about which they don't say too many bad things, could take us up a notch. But I'm very much afraid that these rumors of war will get in the way [...] I haven't visited the Salon yet, and I don't know if I'll have the honor of being quoted by the gentlemen of the Journal. [...] Courbet is successful this year. Other newcomers have already sold & dearly"... A few journalists took an interest in him: Chesnais from Le Constitutionnel, whom he invited to come and see his studies, Delveau from Le Figaro, etc.
