Pierre-Henri VALENCIENNES (1750-1819). - Lot 22
Pierre-Henri VALENCIENNES (1750-1819). L.A.S., Paris August 30, 1818, to Madame Girod de l'Ain in Valognes; 3 pages in-4°, address Advice from the painter to young students. Remarks on the drawings sent by his correspondent and sister Léontine to their "master and friend", with whom he is very pleased; thus: "the study you made of our mother's window is very good, but a little sad, and it's a good thing there's a Japanese varnish that warms up the site, but looks a little red, because it's all alone and we'd like at least one more in the country, even if there isn't any. Numero 4 is very well done, for the site, for the color, and for the way it's done"... Etc. ATTACHED: 5 letters by - Jules Coignet (2), - Théodore Gudin, - François-Joseph Heim, - Ary Scheffer.
