Pair of type 1779 naval officer's flintlock pistols, known a - Lot 132
Pair of type 1779 naval officer's flintlock pistols, known as "chien de mer heads", side and then round barrels, signed on the top: "DESAGA A TULLE", length 13.5 cm, caliber 13.5 mm; iron breech shanks and flanges; right and left locks, round-bodied, swan-necked hammers, iron basins; white-polished iron fittings, belt hooks attached to counterplates; short-barreled stocks ending in a carved hound's head, silver eyes; iron ramrods; total length 25.5 cm. Late 18th century, First Empire. Good condition. DEJAGUAT or DESAGA Henri Simon, boy gunner at the Manufacture Royale de Tulle, worked for the trade, notably making barrels for chien de mer pistols. Still produced around 1800/1810.
