Very rare gilded brass belt plate, engraved in the middle: "L'AN 1ER DE LA REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE", on the left, on a pedestal marked: "Guerre aux tyrans", an officer of the monarchy with his feet resting on a fleur de lys and a royal crown, holding a branch of laurels in his left hand, on the right, on a pedestal marked: "Vivre libre ou la mort", a revolutionary freed from his chains, holding in his right hand a branch of laurels, above, in the middle, a lictor bundle surmounted by a Phrygian cap in front of two crossed flags, the right one tricolored, the left one fleurdelisé, the fleurs-de-lis hammered; back with three loops; 67 x 97 mm. Revolutionary period, 1790. Very good condition.
