Pair of calligrapher's scissors - Lot 74
Pair of calligrapher's scissors Iran, 18th-19th century Finely chased and openworked steel, decorated with palmettes and arabesques. The two rings fit into each other. (Wear and minor damage). L: 20.5 cm Pairs of Iranian steel scissors are much rarer than Ottoman ones, and this one is particularly fine. The compact shape of these paper scissors (Calligrapher's pierced steel scissors) makes them easy to store among calligrapher's instruments. For a similar pair, see J.W. Allan, Persian Steel.
