Émile GALLÉ (1846-1904) Rare and exceptional part of an earthenware floral dinner service, decorated in iron red, gold and blue with naturalistic motifs: arum, tulip, daisy, fleur de fantaisie, sabot de Vénus... from drawings by Louis HESTAUX (1858- 1919). It includes: twenty-seven dinner plates, six soup plates, one large oval dish, one oval dish, one bowl, two ravioli dishes, two small round dishes, 40 pieces. Marked on the reverse "E. GALLE Nancy Déposé EG". Late 19th century, circa 1881. The Musée d'Orsay holds three plates (oat, columbine and fancy thistle decor) from this legendary service and twenty-six preparatory drawings by Louis Hestaux out of the twenty-eight projects produced by this close collaborator of Émile Gallé.
