Nicolas Coffetier (1821 Gorze, Moselle-1884 died in Paris) Set of fourteen grisaille border panels, polychrome glass; ornamental foliage frieze decoration. Medieval style; (accidents and missing parts) H. 70 cm. L. 21 cm. Nicolas Coffetier was a French glass painter. His master was Maréchal de Metz. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1854. He designed numerous stained glass windows with Ch. Champigneulle, particularly in Bayeux, and restored windows in Chartres, Bourges and Reims. He is best known for creating the stained-glass window "Des prophètes & des sibylles annonçant la venue du règne nouveau" in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, in 1884. Bibliography: "Bénézit 1976 T.3
