Nicolas Coffetier (1821 Gorze, Moselle-1884 died in Paris) "Stained glass window in grisaille, silver yellow, enamels depicting the Archangel Michael, leader of the celestial militia and defender of the church. He is haloed, standing in knightly armor, holding a sword and shield. Under his right foot, the dragon of the Apocalypse By N. Coffetier 19th century ; H. 90 cm L. 45 cm. Nicolas Coffetier was a French glass painter. His master was Maréchal de Metz. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1854. He designed numerous stained glass windows with Ch. Champigneulle, particularly in Bayeux, and restored windows in Chartres, Bourges and Reims. He is best known for creating the stained-glass window "Des prophètes & des sibylles annonçant la venue du règne nouveau" in Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, in 1884. Bibliography: "Bénézit 1976 T.3
