Imperial Guard horse hunter's saber, 2nd model, single-branch brass hilt, hallmarked: "L. F." in a rectangle (J. B. Le Fèvre, reviser 1807/1810, and controller 1811/1813) and "B" in an oval (J. J. C. Bureau, director 1812/1813; or Nicolas-Noël Boutet), cap bearing two hallmarks, leather-covered fusée, watermarked; curved blade hallmarked: "A" (probably J. F. Alpy, inspector 1812), spangled "P" (J. Pache, inspector 1811/1812) and "B" with two dots (J. B. Bick, 1st class controller 1809/1824), and signed on the back: "Mfture Imple du Klingenthal octobre 1811"; brass scabbard with two leather-covered crevices, cap held by a screw for disassembly and cleaning, stamped: "L F", iron dart stamped: "C"; length 105 cm. (Some missing leather on crevices). First Empire period. Very good condition. This saber was probably made for the 2nd regiment of Imperial Guard lancers, known as the "red lancers", as the blade is dated 1811. PROVENANCE: Guy KAUFMANN collection, study of Maître Thierry de MAIGRET, Hôtel Drouot, November 22 and 23, 2012.
