* A fan from the revolutionary period, the leaf of a large engraving enhanced with gouache and annotated "UNE FOLIE CHASSE L'AUTRE". An armed figure in 17th-century garb emerges from his garrison tent, while carnival-style figures parade around him. On either side of the sheet, two verses of an aria sung to the glory of "Malbrouk" (in French), entitled "Chacun son tour". Wooden mounting, inner strands in ivory (reinforcements). France, circa 1789. Note: Possibly a production for the last Paris Carnival (at a standstill from 1790 to 1798) at the very beginning of the Revolution.
