* Rare pair of all-iron flintlock pistols, white polished, b - Lot 124
* Rare pair of all-iron flintlock pistols, white polished, by Cloeter in Mannheim: long three-register barrels, octagonal then round, plain; caliber 15 mm, length 32 cm; almost flat-bodied locks, edged with fillet, engraved with birds, swan-necked hammers, batteries reinforced with a busk at the rear; plain iron bridges; one-piece wrought-iron stocks, engraved, simulating caps, signed in a leafy cartouche: "CLOETER A MANHEIM", they are numbered, at the level of the breech shanks: "22"; iron ramrods fixed under the barrel; overall length 48.5 cm. These pistols have the particularity of being mounted with only two screws, except for the hammer and battery screws, which is quite exceptional. (Small, very old restoration to the rear of the swan neck of one of the hammers, with a dovetail). Circa 1680. Very good, near-new condition. 8000/10000 CLOETER (CLEUTER) Christian, harquebusier in Mannheim, Hesse, Germany, circa This pair of pistols is reproduced on the cover, on the dust jacket, in color, of Marcel BALDET's Les armes à feu, presenting the GEISZ collection, Gründ, Paris 1970.
