Green tapestry with decoration of ducks on... - Lot 285 - Thierry de Maigret
Green tapestry with decoration of ducks on a water level, on the right a parrot, big leaves said leaves of cabbage. Attributed to the Royal manufacture of Beauvais, under the direction of the contractor sieur de Menou. Beginning of the XVIIIth century, around 1725. H: 2,58 - L: 3,30 m Wool and silk, frailties and snags, restorations of use in the sky, branch of the tree oxidized, lined with a window allowing to see the reverse. Dario Boccara in an old document of expertise allots this tapestry to a Parisian manufacture in other words to the workshops preceding the manufacture of Gobelins such that of the Faubourg Saint-Marcel, Saint-Germain and others but the attribution to Beauvais seems more coherent.
