Rare dress called "à la Piémontaise", Louis XVI period, circa 1780. Gros de Tours of plain almond green doupion silk. Coat with compères and long bent sleeves adorned with ruffles and falbalas cut to edges. Back and petticoat mounted in English with narrow pleats "à la Watteau" stapled in the upper back and retractable in a slot in the lower part of the "coat". Full petticoat of the same fabric mounted with flat pleats on a slide with a slit to access the pockets. Dim: Coat: 150 cm high - Shoulder width: 30 cm - Petticoat: 90 cm high Condition: Washed silk, traces of bleeding and discoloration (underarms) some small holes. Restorations and possible reworking of a French dress.
