Thérèse de BEAUMARCHAIS (1751-1816) épouse de Beaumarchais - Lot 259
Thérèse de BEAUMARCHAIS (1751-1816) épouse de Beaumarchais 9 L.A., [late 18th-1815], to François-Joseph BELANGER and Mme; 22 pages in-8, 6 addresses (the last one with disinfectant stains). Intimate and curious correspondence to the architect of the Count of Artois (future Charles X), for whom he built Bagatelle, and his wife the dancer Mlle Dervieux. She worries about the health of Mgr d'Artois and recommends doctors; she ends: " Bonjour Chérubin. In brumaire "year of peace", she complains about her legs which prevent her from going to see her "good neighbors of yesteryear, but I still have a tongue and a feather from I don't know who to say to them "when one has such a marvelous remedy, and that one has made it come to one's mouth; one brings it presto to one's suffering friend"; and she signs the crutch. In 1810, a letter in verse is entitled "Bavardage de la vieille Thérèse à son ami François"... 4 letters of 1814 evoke the fall of the Empire, the return of the Bourbons, "our legitimate sovereigns", the reunion of "Bélange" with his boss, his daughter Palmyre who dances with the Duke of Berry... The "11 Auguste 1815" evokes the return of the King for whom she illuminated her house. We join a L.A.S. of the adviser GOEZMANN (1773)
