Officer's saber of the King's bodyguards, finely chased bras - Lot 127
Officer's saber of the King's bodyguards, finely chased brass hilt, with four branches and shell with the arms of France, long-tailed cap chased with foliage and fluting on top, chagrin-covered spindle, silver filigree; slightly curved double-grooved blade, blued and gilt one-third, signed at the heel: "I S B"; blued steel scabbard with three large gilt brass fittings with two bracelets of brads and, on the bolt, a strap in suite, cut iron stinger; length 114.5 cm. (Small shocks to the lower part of the scabbard). Restoration period. Very good condition. The blade being unmarked, one can assume that this bodyguard officer continued his career as a senior officer in the cavalry and that he kept his bodyguard officer saber by simply changing the blade.
