Saxon guild axe, wrought iron pierced, edge forming a pike; wooden handle decorated with pastilles and engraved bone plates, foliage, figures and birds; heel of the handle entirely in bone, engraved, on one side, with the Saxon coat of arms (two crossed swords) and dated: "1661" and, on the other, with two crossed hammers and monogrammed below: "A K"; length 94 cm. (Three plates changed). 17th Century. Good condition.
