Pair of porcelain plates from the "Manufacture de S. M. l'Impératrice P. L. DAGOTY A PARIS", purplish brown wings painted with a frieze of oak leaves and acorns in gold, gold borders, they are also decorated under the wings with a frieze of oak leaves on a white background; the centers are painted, in sepia, with military scenes of the First Empire, with, above, on the marlis, the legends in gold on a white background, one marked: "Passage of the Leck Bridge commanded by Prince Murat", the other: "The Austrian Army Prisoner in Ulm parading before the Emperor"; these paintings can be attributed to Jacques Joseph Swebach (1769/1823); diameters 22 and 21.5 cm. (Wear and tear and a small chip at the foot of one of them). First-Empire period, circa 1805/1806. Fairly good condition. HISTORICAL : For the first one, it is the representation of an episode of the battle of Wertingen, on October 7, 1805, in the morning, Prince MURAT arrived at Donnawerth with the division of dragoons commanded by the general WALTER ; he crossed the river to move quickly on the Lech, in order to seize a bridge located on the road to Rain and guarded by an Austrian cuirassiers regiment; colonel WATHIER, at the head of 200 dragoons of the 4th regiment, swam across this river, charged the enemy regiment with impetuosity and remained master of the bridge. For the second, it is the representation of a fundamental episode of the history of the war against Austria. The Emperor forces the Austrians to lock themselves in Ulm and surrender. The troops march in front of him for five hours. This episode appears on the east facade of the Carrousel
