*Sèvres porcelain plate, hard paste, service with tortoiseshell background, decorated on the wing with a frieze of gold, palmettes, flowers and stars, white background decorated in the center of a medallion with the profile of a woman looking to the right, bronze style with gold highlights, on a sky blue marbled background and surrounded by a crown of flowers and fruits au naturel on a gold background; the back bears the Sèvres mark in red: "Sèvres //" from 23 September 1802 to 22 September 1803; diameter 23.5 cm. Consulate period. Good condition. PROVENANCE: Christie's London sale, December 18, 2006, No. 88. A set of 72 of these plates would have been delivered to the Emperor Napoleon I, on 14 frimaire year XIII (December 5, 1804). The watercolour drawing of the plate model of this service is part of the collections of the Sèvres Manufactory, it is attributed by Mrs. TAMARA PRÉAUD to Charles-Éloi ASSELIN and is reproduced in the catalogue of the exhibition The Sèvres Porcelain Manufactury - Alexandre Brongniart and the Triumph of Art and Industry, 1800/1847, page 173. Exhibition in New Haven, in 1997. A litron cup and saucer from the same service, with the same figure, was presented for sale at Sotheby's in London, on May 10, 2016, n° 35
