Henri HAVET (Paris 1862-1913)
In the park On its original canvas (Blanchet, Paris). Unframed. 168 x 112 cm A student of Luc-Olivier Merson (1846-1920), an academic painter, and Pierre Victor Galland (1822-1892), a decorator and ornamentalist, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. In 1889, he was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Exposition Universelle. Havet is especially known for his landscape scenes or portraits of inhabitants of villages in Southern Italy, Tunisia and Algeria. Our painting, certainly painted in France, is a fine example of his Parisian career.
