ECOLE ANGLAISE DU XIXe SIÈCLE
The English, Scottish and Irish camps on the Champs-Élysées in 1815 Watercolour. 18 x 22,5 cm Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo, the failure of the Hundred Days, led to the 2nd Treaty of Paris of 20 November 1815 and the occupation of France by the allied armies. Russia, England, Prussia and Austria each received an area of occupation where they remained until 1819. Paris was also occupied by foreign armies, some of which, such as the Cossack or English regiments, gave rise to a whole range of iconography.
