Dress (lower part of garment) in embroidered silk, probably of young Crown Prince. The xinghuang orange silk which was the colour of Crown Prince (huangtaizi) or could be granted by privilege to a prince of blood (quingwang) darkened with time. It is embroidered with five-clawed dragons (one of the pentadactyl signs of imperial power) in search of the sacred pearl. These sacred dragons are framed by clouds, bats, and precious objects surrounded in the lower and upper part by mountain peaks, waves and rocks. Second half of the 19th century.
