Glass goblet from the 18th century, Bohemia or Netherlands. The flared circular bowl, engraved with large arms crowned with the motto Honni soit qui mal y pense, supported by two crowned lions, the base and was with two faceted knots, round foot hemmed. H: 20 cm The coat of arms is possibly either those of William I of Orange-Nassau, known as Le Taciturne or Le Silencieux or Le Jeune (1544-1584) or those of Philippe-Guillaume d'Orange (1554-1618) but who use the motto Je maintiendrai Nassau, unlike that of Maurice d'Orange-Nassau (1567-1625), half-brother of Philippe-Guillaume d'Orange, whose motto is Honni soit qui mal y pense, but with significantly different arms. MODIFICATION : Les armoiries sont celles de Guillaume IV d’Orange-Nassau (1711-1751). Un autre verre à pied gravé avec les mêmes armoiries est présenté dans les salles du Rijksmuseum d’Amsterdam.
