Female flute study Black stone and white highlights on beige paper, tiled. Traces of inscription at the top. 25 x 29 cm Nephew of Sebastiano Conca and son of Giovanni Conca, also a painter, Tommaso spent a large part of his childhood in Turin where his father worked for the Savoy. He came to Rome in 1748 and studied with Pompeo Batoni and Raphael Mengs. He received commissions from the Pope and also worked at the Villa Borghese, while at the same time he was very involved with the San Luca Academy. He was also a portrait painter.
