Rare sword of the venerable legions of infantry officers, guard to a branch in chiselled and gilded brass, fluted branch, cross-dressed with the Lion of Venice, trapezoidal half-mumps, that of the front chiselled with two swords crossed in a crown of laurel, that of the back of scales, fused in ebony with oblique fluting; blade slightly curved, gilded and blued to the third; leather sheath with two carved gilded brass trims, decorated with oak leaves, flower-shaped clevis button, flat stinger forming a palmette; length 89 cm. (Leather repaired at the end). Consulate period, First Empire. Good condition.
