SHAKESPEARE (William).
The Dramatic Works. Revised by George Steevens. London, Printed by W. Bulmer and Co, for John and Josiah Boydell, George and W. Nicol, 1802. 9 volumes in-folio, long-grained garnet morocco, double framed with gilt and blind serrated fillets and scrolls on the boards, spine gilt, edges gilt (English binding of the period). A frontispiece, two portraits of the author (one in bust and the other allegorical) and 96 other plates engraved on copper after the main artists of the time. Some spotting and dull corners, a few rubbed boards, some heavy foxing and spotting, one leaf partially torn without missing in volume II, one double leaf detached at the beginning of volume IX, but a fine copy in contemporary ornate morocco of the finest edition of the works of Shakespeare. "A truly monumental labor of devotion, all aspects of this edition are impressive." (Whitmore).
