Pair of flintlock pistols of superior officer or general, blued and gilded octagonal barrels, slightly misleading, signed on the upper sides: "P. GREVERATH. A. DICK", silver sight, length 17 cm, caliber 15 mm, strong stripes; breech tails polished with ice, engraved with foliage and equipped with an eyelet; flat-body locks, gooseneck dogs, roller battery springs; finely cut silver trimmings engraved with foliage, flowers and flower urns, oval caps engraved with a Medusa head; slightly carved walnut sticks, finely chequered handles forming diamonds; dewlap sticks with horn tips; total length 31.5 cm. (A dog rebuilt; a dewlap body changed). Period around 1800/1810. Very good condition. PROVENANCE: the armoury of Their Senene Highnesses the Princes zu Salm-Reifferscheidt-Dyck (part I), Christie's London, 15 April 1992, No. 233. One of the pistols has retained the brass pellet, with the inventory number of the collection: "543".
