Beautiful hussar officer's saber, gilded brass single-branch hilt engraved with foliage, branch embellished with a row of pearls, long straight, en suite-engraved auricles, long-tailed cap also en suite-engraved, chagrin-covered fuse; curved blade with a hollow pan and lateral groove along the back, blued and gilded a third of the way through, adorned on each face with a large charging hussar surmounted by the motto: "Vivat Hussar" surrounded by foliage; leather-covered wooden scabbard with three large double-sided engraved gilded brass fittings, bordered by foliage and adorned in the center, in shuttles, with different trophies of arms, cut-out iron sting; length 102.5 cm. (The first piton is deformed and shows heavy wear).
Late Louis XVI, Directoire period. Very good condition.
