Oval souvenir frame containing an oval miniature painted in gouache on wood, depicting an officer wearing the Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honor, signed: "A. Levallais" (?) and dated: "1884"; in the middle of the frame, the chape of a Directoire cavalry officer's saber with a lead bullet inlaid in the middle, chape marked with drypoint, on one side: "Rhin 1799" and, on the other : "1884"; below, a brass cartel marked: "ARMEE DU RHIN - HEIDELBERG - 24 Vendemiaire an VIII - 16 octobre 1799"; gilded wood frame decorated with foliage; height 44 cm, width 36 cm. Late 18th century, mounted in the late 19th century. Good condition
