MEISSEN Hard porcelain rimmed bowl with Kakiemon polychrome decoration of a flowering hedge with tree stump, hibiscus and paulownia flowers, and phoenix in the sky. Bears the initials HV in pink on the reverse, for the commissioning family: Von Henieke. 18th century, circa 1730-1735. D : 28 cm In this variant of the "flowering hedge", the rock is transformed into a stump and the hedge is smaller and overshadowed by the tree. Similar decoration on a tray in the Victoria and Albert Albert Museum (London), reproduced in Porcelain for Palaces, page 265, plate 302.
