Imperial Guard sailor's saber, single-branch brass guard, lightened at the top, quillon terminated by a large ball and hallmarked: "DUC", body knot forming a shield, engraved with a large naval anchor, on the other side an identical anchor, but in relief, has been added, strong round cap with short tail, engraved with a fillet; strong curved blade with a hollow pan, rounded back, engraved, on both sides, in a cartouche decorated with a palmette on each side: "Garde impériale", on either side a roped anchor; wooden scabbard covered with leather with stitching on the back, with three brass fittings mounted with later clasps; length 88 cm. (Oxidation on the blade; a weld at the connection of the branch to the pommel). First Empire period. Good condition.
