Model 1822 drum-major's saber, made for the French National Guard, cross-shaped brass hilt, chased with foliage and, in the center, an uncrowned eagle surrounded by laurels, strong pommel with lion's head, horn spindle, filigree; white polished curved blade, signed on the back: "Coulaux & Cie Klingenthal"; all-brass, five-register scabbard, chased with foliage and adorned with three laurel-embellished rings, upper part decorated with a music trophy: drum with its sticks, horns, drum-major's canes, the whole surmounted by a shako, it bears, on each side, a strong brass hook for its suspension, strong three-lobed stinger adorned en suite; length 106 cm. (Mantle repaired). Presidency period (December 10, 1851/December 2, 1852). Good condition.
