Beautiful percussion shotgun, double barrel in tobacco-colored ribbon damascus table, band signed in gold lettering, in an oval cartouche: "DAMAS FRISÉ", gilded mantel rim, length 72.3 cm, caliber 15 mm; fully engraved rear locks, gold damascened, signed, one: "PEYRET" and the other: "À LYON", beautiful steel hammers, chased and damascened in gold, long breech tail forming a flange, decorated en suite and adorned with a small gold shield monogrammed: "R P"; cut, engraved and gold damascened iron fittings en suite; burr-walnut frame, braided checkered handle ending in a man's head surrounded by a laurel wreath, checkered barrel en suite, stock, also in burr-walnut, removable by screw system, adorned with a cheek and a round receptacle for fulminate capsules, silver lid adorned with a hunter with his dog under a tree and surrounded by a carved rosette; fruitwood rod with brass tip; total length 112.5 cm. (Two cracks to the barrel and grip; small chips to the stock at the connection with the grip; one of the gold inlets to the barrel mounting drawer incomplete). Circa 1825/1835. Good condition. PEYRET, harquebusier in Lyon, circa 1825/1835; at his death, his wife continued and signed: "Veuve Peyret", in 1835; 6 then 12 passage de l'Hôtel-Dieu in Lyon.
