Flintlock infantry rifle model year IX, shooting prize, barrel engraved on top: "Vive le Roi Louis-Philippe - Ville de Montdidier 1er mai 1831"; lock signed Manufacture nationale de Charleville; silver fittings; burr-walnut stock; length 141 cm. Consulate period, early First Empire, reused under Louis-Philippe. Good condition. This rifle was probably given as a gift at a target-shooting competition held in Montdidier on May 1, 1831. Montdidier, administrative center of a Somme canton, 34 km from Amiens; there is another Montdidier, in Moselle, a small town about 30 km from Sarreguemines.
