Rare hussar flintlock musket model 1786, octagonal then round barrel stamped: "L", length 74.3 cm, caliber 17.5 mm; lock model 1777, stamped: "L" and signed: "Manufre Gd Ducale à Essen"; brass fittings hallmarked: "L", except for the grenadière, rod and trigger guard, which are iron; walnut stock hallmarked in a macaron: "D - B - C"; iron ramrod; overall length 111 cm. (Some pitting to the stock; lock with oxidation; small chips to the wood along the breech tail). First Empire period. Fairly good condition. Essen, in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia region, was a mining and metallurgical town annexed to the Duchy of Berg from 1806 to 1813. A French arms factory was established here during the Empire. Arms from this Manufacture are very rare.
