Born in Maine around 1609-1610, Drouet undoubtedly trained early in the traditional terracotta technique of the École mancelle. After a trip to Rome, where he studied the works of Bernini, his entourage and especially his compatriot Nicolas Cordier, Drouet returned to France. He settled in Toulouse, where his workshop flourished until his death. He was responsible for the high altar of Saint-Etienne church in Toulouse, the mausoleum of President de Lestang and the decoration of the chapel of Saint-Côme in the Jacobins convent. The style of this large terracotta can be compared with the statues in Saint-Béat marble for Auch Cathedral, created by Drouet for Cardinal de Lamothe Harnecourt. Lamothe Harnecourt between 1665 and 1670.
