Part of a tablecloth in historiated linen damask, The Treaty of the Pyrenees, Kortrijk, ca. 1659, 17th century. * View of a fortified city with belfry, Kortrijk (?), fleurs-de-lis. * Kortrijk shield, rider wearing a feathered hat and brandishing a commanding staff: LAETARE/ GALLIA/AND HISPANIA. * The king of France in a coat with fleur-de-lis, with the cross of the Holy Spirit shakes hands with the king of Spain wearing the Golden Fleece; both have a scepter. Between them the dove: PAX * Between a fortified castle and a yew tree of light, a love sounds the trumpet holding an olive branch. * Arms of France and Spain crowned Dimensions: 164 x 212 cm (cut of about 70 cm in the height). Bibl: M. Prinet, Le damas de lin historié, Office du Livre, Fribourg, 1982, p.71 1962. Van Ysselsteyn, no. 312, identified as The Peace of Ryswick. Handwritten label of supposed Provenance: "Table service from the Palace of Versailles when it was looted on August 10, 1790, which was to King Louis XIV."
