Friendly correspondence with Dr. Maurice Denucé (1855-1918), his "dear friend", who amputated his right leg on March 12, 1915 in Bordeaux. September 11, 1914. She asks him to examine her son Maurice Bernhardt who "volunteered and was transferred to the 19th crew train" and who is suffering in Bordeaux. "I am in Andernos Villa Eureka, my leg has been in plaster for a month... When you pass by here, come and see your great friend who sends you a kiss"... - February 11, 1915. "I don't ask anything of you, dear Doctor, but as soon as I can I will do my best without your delicate friendship finding anything to say about it. I loved you very much by instinct, I love you deeply because I know"... - [March 1915]. "I was very ill and came to spend three days in Andernos; but after my lung congestion was cured, I was declared ill again, it seems! [...] I was sent back to Andernos to breathe in the sunshine and drink the milk"... - She shared his pain: "I embrace you like a great son whom I cherish and would like to console". She asks him to come to see her in Andernos with the reporter of La petite Gironde...
