Marie Salomé, in bust, bas-relief in carved polychrome wood, and gilded. In her left hand she is carrying a perfume container and in her right hand the lid that she is about to put on the bottle in a wide gesture. Italy, 16th century. Mary Salome also called Salome the Myrophore" (from the Greek muron, "liquid perfume" and the verb phoreo, "to carry".) She is the mother of Saint John and the half-sister of Mary, mother of Jesus. This sculpture must have been part of a larger work relating the episode of the burial. H: 43 - L: 50 cm
