Two plates in Sèvres porcelain of the beginning... - Lot 291 - Thierry de Maigret
Two plates in Sèvres porcelain of the beginning of the XIXth century. Hollow marks, marks in red with the stamp M. Imple (erased)/de Sevres/8. With polychrome decoration in the center of a basket in basketry filled with flowers and posed on an entablature in the imitation of the marble in a gold medallion, the wing with gold decoration of a frieze made up of rosettes framed of broad confronted palmettes, gold net on the edge. (Very small wears and sautes of enamel) D : 23 cm Provenance : Christie's, Monaco, December 7, 1991, lot 153 (part of lot). According to Tamara Préaud's research in 1991, between June 7, 1809 and May 9, 1810, 38 plates of this model with gold frieze and flower cartel (nine of which were defective), entered the factory's sales store at different times. The price of each plate was 50 livres. There is a mention dated September 13, 1809: 10 plates frise d'or cartel de fleurs by Micault. As mentioned in the Christie's 1991 catalog, the homogeneity of the decoration of all the plates presented suggests that they may have been decorated by Micault; however, it would have been Jacques- François Micault and not Pierre-Louis, the former specializing in flower decorations. Two other plates were sold at Sotheby's, London, April 21, 1998, lot 46. Jacques-François Micault : Active at the factory from 1757 to 1810, as a painter of flowers and motifs.
