Round brooch in gold 750 thousandths and... - Lot 247 - Thierry de Maigret
Round brooch in gold 750 thousandths and translucent enamel plique-à-jour, decorated with a rosette centered on a star pattern in silver 800 thousandths punctuated with a pearl and diamond roses. Metal pin. About 1870/80 (small lacks of roses and enamel) Gross weight: 9.90 g. Diam: 3 cm. This jewel was probably executed by Charles Riffault, talented enameller who took up in the second half of the XIX° century a technique which appeared in the Middle Ages and had fallen into disuse until then (enamel with fenestration). He patented this technique and granted the monopoly to the Boucheron company for which he worked. His work was honored at the World Fairs of 1867 and 1878. Similar jewels are listed in the book BOUCHERON ''Histoire d'une dynastie de joailliers'', by Gilles Néret, Editions Pont Royal, Paris 1988, reference 23, 24, 25 page 20-21.
