Officer's edge sword, openwork revolving iron hilt, fluted e - Lot 521
Officer's edge sword, openwork revolving iron hilt, fluted ebony spindle; strong hollow-point blade, probably damascus, engraved and gilded at the heel, on one side, with a radiating sun and, on the other, with cabalistic signs and the inscription: "CONSTANTINOPLE 1774"; length 69.5 cm. (Without scabbard). Early Louis XVI period, 1774. Good condition. The sun and this marking were probably engraved in memory of the beginning of the reign of Louis XVI (1774/1793).
