Very rare large flintlock marine rifle called "de boucanier", iron barrel, with sides then round, iron sights, length 1,33 m, calibre 17 mm; flat-body lock, engraved with foliage and a running animal, signed: "Praire", fixed by three screws, swan-necked hammer; brass fittings, cut and engraved with foliage; characteristically shaped walnut stock, lightly carved, barrel with four ramrod loops; fruitwood ramrod with iron tip; overall length 1.74 m. Circa 1730/1740. Very good condition. PRAIRE, harquebusier in Saint-Etienne, between 1700/1730; PRAIRE fils, harquebusier, manufacturer and contractor in Saint-Etienne, associated with the widow GRANGENEUVE, in 1760.
